SpeedHack

Best Presentation

One of the hardest things to do in the SpeedHack is to create a game that not only plays well and follows the rules, but looks good and professional as well. These are the games that the voters thought looked the best.

  1. Bunker Master

    By Rodrigo Braz Monteiro

    Game Background

screenshot You're on the battlefield with nowhere to go but straight ahead into the opposing army. Chances of survival are slim. If you want to make it, be sure to bring along the big guns—and as much help as you can muster. Your goal is to keep advancing by capturing the next enemy base before the time runs out.

    Our Take

With all the stuff flying all over the screen, what's there not to like? It can be absolute mayhem at times. Bombs drop from the sky, the enemy sprays you with bullets, and you retaliate with some destruction of your own.

  2. Starship Survivor

    By Jakub Wasilewski

    Game Background

screenshot It's the space age, and you're set for the Outpost when a terrible miscalculation occurs. You end up a half galaxy off target, completely on your own. If you want to survive, you're going to have to visit other planets and make wise decisions on how to use your precious resources. If you're lucky, you might just be able to survive long enough to recharge your hyperdrive.

    Our Take

It uses AllegroGL, making it one of the nicest looking games of the competition. The game features a menu driven interface with a nice font. Overall, it's a very clean and professional presentation.

  3. Fire Starter

    By Marcello Bastéa-Forte

    Game Background

screenshot What goes up must come down. It's time to be a trouble maker and apply that to your city. Score big points by burning the whole thing down. But don't think you're going to be allowed to just set fire at your own leisure. The police are out to get you, and the fire fighters are at hand quenching the flames.

    Our Take

One can do a lot with a little, and this game shows that. Despite only featuring a green palette, the graphics of this game are very nice. It also has nice music to go along with the sounds of burning buildings.

Honorable mention: Desert of Doom, Peacefighter, Behind Enemy Lines, Dark Light Battles, Rebels and Lords, Of Blood and Sand, Allefant 4
