Best Overall

This category is a showcase of the games that best captured the spirit of the rules and were still fun to play! That can be quite a challenge, but here are the games that had it all.

  1. Bunker Master

    By Rodrigo Braz Monteiro

    Game Background

screenshot You're on the battlefield with nowhere to go but straight ahead into the opposing army. Chances of survival are slim. If you want to make it, be sure to bring along the big guns—and as much help as you can muster. Your goal is to keep advancing by capturing the next enemy base before the time runs out.

    Our Take

The game itself is quick to pick up and has a frustration level that's just about right. Everything fits together quite nicely from the music to the sound to the graphics. The game plays as good as it looks. The first time you die, you're going to want to try again because you know you can survive longer. Your teammates can get frustrating at times, but everyone knows if you want to get something done right, you just have to do it yourself!

  2. Starship Survivor

    By Jakub Wasilewski

    Game Background

screenshot It's the space age, and you're set for the Outpost when a terrible miscalculation occurs. You end up a half galaxy off target, completely on your own. If you want to survive, you're going to have to visit other planets and make wise decisions on how to use your precious resources. If you're lucky, you might just be able to survive long enough to recharge your hyperdrive.

    Our Take

This game isn't for the faint of heart! There's no love here; one wrong move and you're gone. If you're up for a challenge, you'll love the game. It's hard, but pretty much for the the right reasons. The controls of your ship are responsive and realistically simplified. Unlike some survival games, there is a goal to be reached. It's tough going, but the reward of success is waiting.

  3. Dark Light Battles

    By Richard Phipps

    Game Background

screenshot Dark vs Light—pick a side and go after the other. You have soldiers, knights, archers, and mages at your command, but use them wisely. Each play a different role in securing your victory. The faster you can advance and take over castles, the larger your army can get. Strike down your foes to survive!

    Our Take

This turn based war game is simple enough for anyone to play and understand, but isn't void of strategy. You have to strike a proper balance between trying to build up your army by capturing castles and trying to take out the enemy forces. Once you get short handed it's extremely difficult to bounce back, so a key to survival is to knock the other guy down first.

Honorable mention: Desert of Doom, Fire Starter, Rebels and Lords, AntiMeteors, Peacefigher
