24 hour update
Turns out I clocked 24.25 hours for this event, where I wanted to only do 8-12 hours. Oh well, I still got to balance the weekend with family.
Anyway, my entry is submitted. I imagine there's probably some code in there that makes it difficult to compile. For now, I've got to get some sleep as i'm down to just 2 before a full workday!

Got Some Aliens Walking Around
Well it looks like this is as far as I will get. Only just under two hours left and not much time to implement anything.
Would like to keep working on this for a while, as it seems to show promise for gameplay once I get far enough along.
Worked on my entry about 29 hours total but I'm still missing some features and it's not really finished. Had trouble with finding good assets like a tractor and Blender decided not to work so I don't have a main player ...

Last hour edit resume
OK so far I have:
-added some more particles
-separated part of particle system to allow user defined nb_min_particle in config.txt

-removed some compile flags
-replaced some residual allegro_message by n_logUploaded !!

Obnoxious sounds added in
I found the time to make my aliens make awful noises and wander around aimlessly. I will be submitting my entry now.

Some Other Time
A delayed game is eventually released, but a good game is bad forever.
I need sleep. It's been fun. I wonder where that hour went, the one I needed to finish on time...
Fuck.

OUT OF TIME
Don't think I got there in time. Trying to get the zip under 250kb, just realized, it's 12:01pm :(

DNF
As there is no meaningful gameplay yet, I'm not submitting my entry. Here are two screenshots of the latest version though.

Hmmm
I'm pretty sure I hit upload before the time ran out. After I hit the button, everything disappeared and then no record of it.

Been fun..
Yep, a little disappointed and frustrated that I missed out by the skin on a bee's dick.. But hey, I have had fun and there is always next year. I think I will finish the project. Here is a screen shot of how far I got. Not really a game, just watering weeds and when they get big you get to harvest them. Cheers..

Windows Progress
See this thread: https://www.allegro.cc/forums/thread/615499/0
It looks like Mark Oates has had some luck compiling a functional windows build. It doesn't work on my virtualbox, so I'm going to try and boot directly into Windows to see if I have better luck.
There's been a few reports of crashes and missing particles that I'm looking into as well.

Repo
I did all my work on a repo that I've opened up: https://bitbucket.org/ssilvey/eldersofethos/overview
I created a tag of the exact code snapshot that I submitted as well as a tag for the official Visual Studio 2012 compliant build. If you review all the commits to the windows_compatibility branch, you can see each step I took to get to that latter tag (which I used for the Windows binary). ...
